the surface. vΓ­ masquerades as a mourning widow who suffered blindness at the hand of his late husband who suffered a 'horrible accident'. he wears a blindfold to mask his unnatural eyes, and either gloves or finger jewelry to hide his claws. over the years, he has mastered a way of speaking that conceals his fangs. he wears modern-ish mourner's attire, which covers him near completely and entices prey into falling for the mystery.

the dark veil. vΓ­ does not need to hide his unusual qualities here. his attire often shifts depending on the occasion. while he prefers to stick to traditional kuganese adornments, he has a particular outfit for tasks that require a more . . . violent approach. leave no witnesses, as one may say.

the mad widow of kugane. it is a title befitting this mysterious someone suffering from constant grief and heartbreak over the loss of an abusive husband. the story is spun as a lure, to make awful men believe themselves lucky to meet a mysterious beauty in need of a body to warm one's bed and chase away the demon called loneliness. those same men who disappear into the night with this strange person never quite see the light of day again.many chalk it up to folklore. most believe this mourner is a vengeful spirit picking on men that nobody will miss for a reason. rumors only serve to draw in thrill seekers, conspiracy theorists, and curious minds.the truth. when one requires sufficient living aether to satisfy not only one's own needs, but the requirements of a voidsent pact, one often turns to the easiest method available based on their skillset. in vΓ­'s case, he weaponizes his charm and appearance by leaving much to the imagination so that he can entice people easier. once behind closed doors, those who believe they're lucky will soon find out that they were so incredibly wrong in their assessment of the situation. he kills by draining a person of their aether and blood, sharing his fill with his voidsent companion.

vrykolakas. an aether-hungry bat-like entity that hunts under the cloak of night and has a near unquenchable thirst for aether. in order to travel freely with its owner, vrykolakas takes on the form of a small yet fancy bat familiar.status. currently active, under contract with vΓ­Γ°ar eyvindur.pact details. "what is a corpse but a voidsent's boon?" asked the starving vrykolakas when faced with a fresh corpse only for those fleeting embers of a stubborn soul to propose a deal. in exchange for survival and the boons of having a voidsent at his side, vΓ­ offered to meet the high-maintenance demands of a vampiric entity with a promise it would never starve again . . . and could still hunt without worrying of needing a stable supply of aether.abilities. deadly curses, aether manipulation, and enhancing the owner's magicks.

β—†   at eight years old, vΓ­ was driven from his home due to the garleans' invasion. he boarded a makeshift boat with what few survivors could fit on it, and sailed to a coerthas before it had been plagued with snow and ice.β—†   it were these luscious green planes that vΓ­ refined his skills to hunt and track. 'no part of a kill will go to waste' were the words of his late mother. meat became food, pelt and fur became clothes, and bones made utensils, weaponry, and furniture where applicable.β—†   he and those he'd fled here with lived in isolated secrecy from the rest of coerthas. as dragons warred in the skies above, vΓ­ and the rest of his tribe would later scavenge battlegrounds for resources.β—†   one night, calamity struck. winter descended upon coerthas with relentless storms and heaps of ice and snow. water sources were frozen over, animals unfit to survive the sudden harsh conditions migrated or perished, and inhabitants either stayed and died or pressured Ishgard for help. vΓ­'s tribe became divided: some refused to find charity in a city of people they didn't know, others saw the dire circumstances and wished to leave.β—†   before a unanimous decision could be made, disaster struck. the mountains above shook with an onslaught of avalanches, burying vΓ­'s tribe or sweeping them away. vΓ­, himself, was swept into a newly opened crater and buried beneath heaps of snow. it was here that he died . . . in a place where the veil betwixt this world and the void was thin. with the embers of vΓ­'s soul stubbornly clinging to life, he made a pact with a voidsent that granted him life eternal at a cost.β—†   gifted a second chance, and unable to find anyone from his tribe, vΓ­ sought to return home in a sense of the word. sneaking aboard a ship, he found himself in kugane where he adapted to modern living. wishing to learn an arsenal of skills, vΓ­ exchanged public performances in art and music for mentorship in magicks, blademanship, and business.β—†   eventually he earned the eye of a less than spectacular man with plenty of power and money. it was this same man who ran the kogane dori markets, and always came to collect his share. vΓ­, deciding to play the long game, flirted with this man . . . and eventually they married. nine months passed, and kugane awoke to the market steps painted with the man's blood. vΓ­, on the other hand, had taken up his empire.β—†   it was here that vΓ­ developed his own drug. he called it lust dust, and marketed it as an aphrodisiac. this was his identity by day: prowling the markets to ensure all runs smoothly while ensuring his product is distributed smoothly without disruption. by night, he would disguise himself as a mourner seeking to hunt down men who threatened his business or doubted his power to satiate his and his voidsent's hunger for living aether. eventually, he resorted to preying on men that nobody would miss or question missing . . . until he grew bored.

danse macabre.

β—†   in search of a cure to this affliction called 'boredom', vΓ­ figured he'd firstly address the issue of an insatiable voidsent. danse macabre itself wasn't entirely what interested him, but the connections it had did. choosing to lend his expertise and skills, vΓ­ found himself among its employees.β—†   steady hands, a strong stomach, and an intimate relationship with chemicals and their reactions made him the perfect embalmer. he could stay tucked away in a medical lab and venture through the anatomical structure of a corpse with ease.β—†   cosmetology ties into preparing the dead for their funeral, and vi is one who creates his own makeup so it best fits his tastes and works on his skin. he is additionally in the art of fashioning many a lipstick laced with poison; deadly to those he kisses while wearing it, and able to withstand its effects until he may take the antidote often hidden within a piece of jewelry on his person. of course, he won't be dishing out poison-laced makeup to just anyone.β—†   as a fantastic cook and baker, vΓ­ is often commissioned for special occasion catering. from making enough food to feed hundreds of people, to baking decorated cakes for weddings, he is dependable and never disappoints. while he is also in the art of poisoning food, this, too, is not a service offered to . . . just a normal civilian.β—†   while initially joining danse macabre to put his skills to use and potentially learn new ones along the way, there is also hope for a stable supply of living aether. part of him, too, wonders if he may some day climb the ranks to run a house of his own among the parlor's higher ups.

the dark veil.

β—†   to an undead being with an insatiable voidsent companion and having near immortality, boredom is the deadliest malady one in his position can suffer from. he prefers a proper hunt, one where he can chase his prey down after initially luring them in . . . but public society doesn't allow such violence.β—†   vΓ­ offers his services as a hired killer, so long as he's allowed to employ his methods . . . with some restraint as to keep attention away from the dark veil. having preferred the art of bloodletting to getting his aether fix, he is no stranger to organ harvesting. despite his regal and prettied appearance, he is definitely one to get his hands dirty.β—†   due to his past experience with producing, distributing, and transporting his own drug, vΓ­ employs these skills within the dark veil. he is an exceptional businessman, and knows the proper ways to handle product. most will find him extremely persuasive, and he is an expert at getting customers . . . and finding ways to keep them coming. after all, he values loyalty above all else, and those who violate loyalty will face proper punishment.
